Opportunity to attend a Professional Development Event
In conjunction with its forthcoming exhibition Looking, Thinking, Drawing, awful/FANTASTIC! is pleased to announce a Gallery Talk by local artist Val Stephenson BA (Hons) MA.
What is drawing? What is not drawing? How is drawing different to draughtsmanship? What is good drawing? Do I need to draw as part of my art practice?
Val will present an overview of her work as it developed through her MA in Drawing as Process which she completed with Distinction in 2006 and the work she is currently engaged in as part of a practice-based Phd in Fine Art for which she won a scholarship at Kingston University.
Val will talk about her ongoing dialogue with drawing in her work followed by what she hopes will be a lively group discussion around some of the above questions. This is a chance to debate some of the current and perennial issues around drawing, which participants can then feed into their own practice and professional development. Refreshments will also be available.
This event is to be held in the Main Gallery of Queens Park Arts Centre, Queens Park, Aylesbury, Bucks HP21 7RT at 11.30am on Saturday 11 October and open to all member artists and art supporters of awful/FANTASTIC! together with their guest(s). Entrance to this event is free but places are limited, so please email laura@awfulfantastic.co.uk to reserve places.
